Mosaic Monday ~White Thanksgiving

We still had snow on the ground for Thanksgiving. Not quite a White Christmas..but hey I'll take what I can get! Being a Southern girl, I still think the snow is pretty...except when I have to drive in it!

Thankfully the roads were fine for Thanksgiving day since we had dinner at our friends house. We had an untraditional Prime Rib dinner since Amy their daughter's birthday falls right near Thanksgiving and she hates turkey. We weren't complaining! It was great.

I brought a couple of desserts for our contribution plus I decided to try a new (to me) dip recipe that ended up being a hit. If you want to come home with a clean dish bring this one to your next holiday get together. Could have something to do with the bacon garnish.....

The World's Best Bacon and Cheese Dip
adapted from this recipe on Allrecipes.com, but there are a few like it on the internet.

Ingredients

5 sliced cooked bacon, crumbled - reserve one piece for topping
1 8 oz pkg softened cream cheese
1 cup mayonnaise
8 oz shredded cheese (I used Fontina)
2 green onions, chopped ( I didn't have, so sprinkled a little onion powder)

Directions

In a small bowl, mix the cream cheese with mayonnaise until smooth. Stir in cheese, onions, and 4 pieces of crumbled bacon. Place bowl in microwave, and cook 2 minutes. Remove, and stir well. Return to microwave, and cook 2 mins more. Sprinkle with remaining bacon pieces. Serve warm with crackers, but its great cold too!

The snow is all gone now, and the Christmas decorations are up! I'm so thankful for a nice long weekend :-)

I'm joining in for Mosaic Monday today. Go check out all of the other neat mosaics at Little Red House HERE.

Looks like you've had a similar amount of snow to us in Ireland (and there's more to come for us). I like your mosaic photo collection, particularly the snow woman in the pink hat! All the best, Kelli.

Your snow mosaic looks so fun! We had snow in Philly on Thanksgiving too, but it just came down and was all gone by noon. Your dip sounds good, I'll keep it in mind in case I need one more for my PIGskin Challenge:@)

OK, I want to know who went to the top of the house you put those lights up? It looks beautiful, and festive! Your dip looks great, Suzy!

Love the mosaic of snow, and Jigs looks cute! Does he like snow?

ah!! snow. A very wintry mosaic. We have none here in lower Michigan yet. I love the first snow where it lays down a blanket of white . Your Thanksgiving dinner looks yummy and so glad you could celebrate.
Have a good week

Snow...haven't seen it yet in New Jersey, but we all know it will be here soon enough. Thank you for the recipe...my daughters love everything bacon so this will be a hit!

It amazes me that you have had more wintry weather than we have so far this season! I'm sure we will catch up BIG TIME soon.

Any family gathering is special - no matter what is served! The dip sounds wonderfl - I know a certain someone who would love the bacon ;)

Hey Suzy - we must live close to each other, since I'm a western Washington girl myself. Now, about the dip - is there a way to warm it up in the oven? I'm trying to avoid the microwave.

That dip looks scrumptious!
We had the same snow up here, as you know (and thanks, by the way, for your visit!) but the rains have come and when I got home last night there was no snow at the airport and not a whole lot at home.

I'm with you on enjoying the snow. And I don't mind driving in it if it's not too slippery out.
Sounds like you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Prime rib is a great option.
And the dip - ooh, bacon and cheese, what's better than that!

Snow on Thanksgiving looks so pretty! I don't mind snow if it is only an inch or two and melts away the next day :) Your snowman is so cute but your Pup is even cuter!
