Flashback and Foodie Friday ~Looking forward to April

This week I'm flashing back to April 2007 as a preview to what I can expect in a couple of weeks in my garden. Its such a beautiful time of the year!

Lilacs scenting the air

Apple blossoms promising fruit in the fall

Sweet pink flowers

In different shapes

And sizes

Pretty bulbs

And shades of baby blue

Fading into purples

And still cool enough in the kitchen to whip up a batch of cookies. Likes these unusual Chocolate Chip ones that call for cream cheese. Kind of a cakey soft texture..not chewy. Worth giving a try!

Chocolate Chip Cookies

2 tsp Baking soda
2 tsp Hot water
5 Eggs
2 C Margarine
1-1/2 C White sugar
1-1/2 C Brown sugar
2 t Vanilla
2 t Salt
4 -1/2 C Flour (more as needed to control consistency of batter)
2 pkgs. Chocolate chips
1 C Chopped walnuts
8 oz. Cream cheese, softened

Add all dry ingredients together in large mixing bowl; mix well. Dissolve baking soda in hot water. Add baking soda/water mixture and all other ingredients to the bowl and mix thoroughly; adjust flour as needed to bring to thick batter. Drop by tablespoonfuls onto cookie sheets and bake at 350° for 10 – 12 minutes. Remove from oven and let sit on cookie sheets for a few minutes before removing to wire racks to cool completely.

If you've got a flashback to share just add your link below! It can be a memory, a recipe, a photo, a post...whatever!

I'm also joining in over at Designs by Gollum for Foodie Friday. Go check out all of the great posts.

Gorgeous, Suzy, they're all so pretty, but I tend to favor the lilacs! Mine have little buds, I was very happy to see! There is hope for spring here on Long Island, finally!

and your choc chip cookies look amazing, I'll have a few with a tall ice cold glass of milk, please :)

Suzy ... amazing flowers, I can almost smell them.:)

We finally are seeing daffodil blooms, and a few hyacinths but very little greening up from the trees.

Your cookies look very tasty. I wish I COULD smell them.

Suzy, I always look forward to your blooms and you have a wonderful variety. I do have some green on my lilac bushes :-) I am getting very anxious!

I NEED those cookies! OMG, they look mouth watering. I told my husband that I would make him some for his upcoming trip to New York City with his students. I might have to snitch one!
