Flashback and Foodie Friday ~Farmers Market Memories

Today was the day the Broadway Farmers Market opened in Downtown Tacoma. Luckily I am just a couple of blocks away, so I'll be spending most Thursday lunch hours perusing the market for the next few months! I didn't bring a camera today, but I have some older pics from 2007 that I am flashing back to for this Flashback Friday. Happy 20th Birthday Farmers Market!

You just can't beat the market for reasonable color bouquets. Today I saw them priced between $5-$15...they'd be $75-100 at most florists!

Its always hard to choose when you want to buy one

This one would be in the running though for sure...that red flower is crocosmia.

Of course there are fruits and veggies too! I think the middle ones are Pluots. Have you tried them? More Plummy than Apricotty

Plus entertainment

And neat architecture...it could be San Francisco!

The market is held in an area known as the Theater District and there are a couple of neat ones to check out along the way

Don't ya dig the old signs?

More flowers just because...

And some colorful "art"

And another masterpiece....

There's lots of good food. Today I had Peruvian Tamales. They were really good...filled with chicken and olives and who knows what else. In my flashback...I was loving the pierogis and cabbage rolls

Looks like I took home quite a nice little haul

My favorite image of the day...this sweet kitty relaxing in a garage just down the street from the market. The car is pretty cool too!

Hope you enjoyed the flashback. If you have a flashback of any kind...an old picture, memory, recipe, post..whatever, join me by placing your link below, then link back to me! You can borrow the Flashback Friday logo if you'd like.

I'm also joining in on Foodie Friday this week over at Designs by Gollum. There's always something pretty to see over there and I'm sure there will be lots of recipes shared too. Go check it out! I was thrilled to see that I won a wonderful little prize in one of Michael Lee's contests. I chose the Le Creuset bowls!

Go see HERE!

Your market looks great, I love the pictures! Mine favorite one doesn't open for another 2 weeks. I can't wait.

I just submitted to flashback Friday. When I received my starter bag for the Amish bread, it was QUITE the flashback as I hadn't done it in YEARS! Thanks!

You're so lucky to be near such a great Market..I actually think you restrained yourself nicely. Maybe it's time to invest in your own shopping cart, you can carry only so much in your arms!! LOL
Congrats on the bowls - cute!

Great flashback to the Market but even better that you still get to go and it's not just a memory! Lucky stiff :) Great haul, I am jealous!

Nice that you won!

Our farmers market is tiny compared to that one...lucky you! I remember when you first posted that picture of the kitty shading itself under that car...that was ages ago when we were all on GB!

Suzy, love seeing your pictures of the Tacoma Farmers Market. I really enjoy a good farmers' market. Even if I'm not in the mood to buy much, there are always interesting things and people to see and photograph.

Gorgeous bouquets of flowers ...and it looks like you had a good haul. :) What a fun way to spend a Thursday lunch hour.
