Flashback and Foodie Friday ~July

Every Friday that I'm availabe I do Flashback Friday...I blog about something from my past whether it be an old post, recipe, picture, memory etc. Today I'm flashing back to last July so that I can get a preview of what will be blooming in my garden in a couple of months and what other fun stuff I might have to look forward to. Plenty of daylilies..

And clematis like this 'Etoile Violette'

Hosta blooms

Roses Galore

Blue Hydrangea

Pretty Daisies

Cosmos and yarrow

Gorgeous 4th of July sunsets on Puget Sound

And fresh fruit

for sweet treats

It's a "casual" recipe. Make it your own!
Berry Tiramisu
Adapted from several recipes listed at Tiramisu: Heaven in Your Mouth

I kind of winged it, so this is just a rough outline

For the berry layer:
Strawberries (lets call it a pint)
Raspberries (and probably a half pint)
Sugar (this I leave up to you)
Grand Marnier
Marsala Wine

For the cream layer:
Marcarpone Cheese (I used 4 oz)
Heavy Cream (I used 2 cups)
Powdered Sugar (I used 1/4 cup)
Grand Marnier (I used 1 Tbls)
Marsala Wine (I used 1 Tbls)

Cake layer:
Store bought Angel Food Cake

Slice strawberries & combine with raspberries, sugar (to taste), a couple tablespoons of Grand Marnier & Marsala. Let set until plenty of liquid has been created. Once berries are ready, combine ingredients for cream layer and beat until thick. Start layers with angel food cake cut in pieces to match your container. Drizzle berry juice and a layer of berries to saturate cake layer, then a layer of cream and continue in this fashion. I had three layers. You can't see the top berry layer because it's behind the ribbon and lid. This would have been great with a blueberry layer..staying in theme, but I didn't have any on hand.

Hope you enjoyed the flashback. If you have one of your own...anything at all..add your link below and then link back to me on your blog. Feel free to grab the logo!

I'm also joining in on Foodie Friday over at Designs by Gollum. Go check out the other posts HERE.

Love the pictures! So summery! I can't wait.

So the buffalo sauce may not be so much of a flashback but the whole one pan casserole is the kind of stuff that we all grew up on, right?

Pretty daylilies, Suzy, I think I even have those, I think that's what Arlene gave me. I am clueless, but your flowers are so pretty!

and that berry tiramisu looks fantastic! Love it in the jar, great idea!

Suzy, love all the bloom pictures ... especially the rich, colorful daylilies and prolific blooming clematis. I usually forget about the blooms all over our hostas; by the time they bloom around here, the heat and humidity are horrific.

Great picture of the raspberries. I'm generally a fruit purist especially with berries. I usually eat them plain and in huge quantities. But your berry tiramisu looks tasty and is very pretty.

Oh my goodness...that Tiramisu looks to DIE for! Thanks so much for sharing this recipe! I will definitely be making it this year to share with some special people...I'll be growing strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, and boysenberries...and of course...native blackberries! ;) Love all your pretty flower pics...makes me itch for the coming months so much! :)
