Since Friday is pizza night around here I will try to use this opportunity, weekly, to dig deep in the archives for something interesting. Lets rewind six months to Aug 2008. Summer was in full swing.
The lilies were smelling sweet
My namesakes were unfurled
Butterflies were flying
The hydrangeas were very blue
Jigs was very cute
The corn was about to start doing it's thing
And I had a modest harvest from my garden. Look at that funny carrot with pants....
And this is what I was eating
Fruit Salad with Honey Lime Yogurt Dressing
adapted from several different recipes using fruit I had on hand
Salad:
1/2 "Personal" seedless watermelon, cubed or cut into balls
2 small nectarines, peeled and cubed
1 cup of strawberries, sliced
1/2 cup blueberries (maybe more?)
1/4 cup chopped pecans
Dressing:
1 small container strawberry yogurt
1 Tablespoon honey (or to taste)
2 Tablespoons balsamic vinegar
Juice of one medium lime
Combine all in a container and shake well. Serve over prepared fruit.

Oh, Suzy... I long for summer and here it is this morning! Very nice to see! I remember the carrot. Cute! Thanks for a jolt of things to come, even if they are from the past!
Suzy, I love your Flashback Friday post. And I remember most of them. Who could forget the carrot?
I really like the looks and sound of your fruit salad and the dressing sounds really tasty. Neither John nor I eat yogurt, but I think I think that I should try the dressing,. ... sounds like the perfect accompaniment for the fruit.
Love Jigs' picture. He so photogenic.
Suzy, you could post a pic of Jigs every day!!
I long for those days also - enjoyed your 'flashback', the salad looks great!!
Hi Suzy!
Great post, flowers are so pretty.
It is sunny and 40 here, so things are looking up.
Just want all the durn ice to melt so we can walk again!
I used to hate Yogurt, now I look fwd to my 2 WW a day!
So I guess we can learn to like things!!
Mmmm that does look good Suzy...now for sure I'm picking up strawberries and blueberries for this evening, think I might put some honey on them...never did before but your salad makes me think it might be good. Gardens so pretty a place for pets...your little dog Jigs is soooo cute.
Kathleen...it's about the same here...sun is out and there is barely a trace of ice left. I think most of it had landed on my roof...the past few nights have been filled with the sounds of ice crashing as it slide off the sides. Luckily no one goes near the sides of my house in winter.
Good morning ladies :-) It's nice to see your comments. Kathleen, I like that WW yogurt too and LOVE the fact its only 1pt.
Barb, I think he's pretty cute too. He always looks so serious though. He stares you straight in the eyes.
Cynthia, do give it a try as a dressing on fruit salad. I had it for the first time like that back when I as in college at LSU. An all night diner called Louie's that specialized in feeding hungry (and slightly inebriated) college students. Some great greasy diner food, but they also snuck in some pretty health stuff!
Jayne I'm so glad I could bring a little summer to you. Although its foggy and drizzly here today I do see some signs of spring. I notice tulip foliage coming up, my pulmonaria and hellebores are about to bloom and I think I will have little baby irises blooming soon. Yeahhhhh! I will be ahead of all of you though for a while..then you will all catch up and pass me by since it stays so cool here during the summer lol.
Claire, Jigs is usually sitting by me in the yard when I am digging etc. Unless it gets too hot..then he watches from the living room lol.
Ah, summer time! What a wonderful post, Suzy. As I look out my window I see the snow melting away since we're in the 50s today - finally. I know we're not done with snow and I hope you share some of your flowers when they pop open. I'll be jealous but in a good way :)
Jigs is seriously cute!
50s would be great Susan! We are foggy today and 40ish. I'm hoping it will clear off but doubtful. Even still I think I'm going to put my jacket on and go poke around. I don't know if there is anything to photo yet, but if there is I will certainly share.
Suzy, great post! I never thought I'd long for summer, but your post make me want to be out in the heat :) Great pics! Jigs is a cutie pie for sure!
We're having a bit of spring today. and sunny! and leftover mushy snow on the lawns! but no work for two days so that is fine whatever the weather :)
Enjoy your weekend, Suzy!
Glad I could give you a little heat Carol! No summer here..or even spring. I kept hoping the fog would lift but it's almost 2 and its hanging on and 41° all day. Oh well! I am still so happy to be home relaxing. Hope you have a great weekend too Carol.
Suzy, I've saved your Yogurt Salad Dressing to make for Moe. On the days that I work, I leave him salad makings and a homemade dressing so he can make his own salad. I know that he will love yours made with Yogurt. Thank you.
Hope Moe likes it Ann. It's a super simple dressing but goes great with just about any fruit. I'm happy you stopped by!
